Can Homosexuals Be Church

Members?

There may be significant diversity of opinion on this question. It will depend on what the church believes about the expectations placed on members. If members are understood to have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ then the church can expect members to live a lifestyle consistent with that. It would seem inconsistent, maybe even hypocritical, for a person to make vows involving repentance and faith in Jesus and promises to live for Him and then to want to live a lifestyle inconsistent with the scriptures. Even people who know little of the church understand that if you want to belong to an organisation, there is an obligation to observe the rules of that organisation. They would expect any organisation to have some standards and some discipline around those standards. Many will respect a church that is consistent even if they disagree on the issue.
